General Information:
Sociology and Anthropology, a department within the College of Arts and Letters at James Madison University, is accepting applications for a part-time Fiscal Technician. Hybrid/remote work is a possibility for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Serve as Fiscal Technician/Bookkeeper for the department by processing
expenditure forms, maintaining expenditure database and reconciling department
and various grant budgets.
-Process student awards through the department's Foundation account.
-Assist in the beginning process of setting up new grants and complete all of the
follow-up forms and software access.
-Process travel through Chrome River, JMU's mobile expense management
software, for faculty and students.
-Prepare hiring documents for grant hired students and enter hours into
appropriate systems.
-Use the eVA state procurement system for purchasing equipment and supplies for
the department.
-Use the AIM work order system to enter building work orders for archaeology lab
and serve as a back-up to the office manager for department work orders.
-Reconcile the department's Small Purchase credit card monthly.
-Maintain the department website.
-Maintain the archaeology lab physical inventory.
-Acquire dash and visitor parking passes for the archaeology parking spaces.
-Perform office duties as assigned and serve as back-up for the office manager
including, but not limited to, answering phone, greeting and assisting walk-ins,
making copies and sorting mail.
-Monitor archaeology lab computers and schedule repairs.
Qualifications:
-Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
-Financial experience such as budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, and credit card reconciliation.
-Excellent customer service skills.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Experience with web design/management is beneficial, but not required.
Conditions of Employment:
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
