Position Summary
The Department of Anthropology at Bowdoin College invites applications for a one-year, full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor position in cultural anthropology for the 2023-2024 academic year. The position begins July 1, 2023. PhD required by the time of appointment. Topical and geographic specializations are open, but candidates whose teaching and research specialties include the Middle East, Eurasia, or North Africa, and whose work falls in the areas of Political Anthropology, Economic Anthropology, or Legal Anthropology are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities are two courses per semester, including a mid-level, required Anthropological Theory course. The other three courses can be in the candidate's area of expertise.
