We are seeking an anthropologist committed to undergraduate teaching and active scholarship. Areas of Expertise include immigration, human rights, refugee studies, diaspora, ethnographic methods, transnational identities race/ethnicity, gender/sexuality, with preference in world region: Asia. The teaching load is 3/3 in a two semester schedule. The successful candidate will be able to teach Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Borders and Boundaries, Anthropology and Human Rights, Ethnographic Methods and other courses related to research areas.
PhD or advanced ABD in cultural anthropology; evidence of effective teaching; and a commitment to creating an inclusive classroom supportive of underrepresented categories of students.
A developed research and writing agenda is desired.
Drake University’s College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology, housed within the interdisciplinary Department for the Study of Culture and Society. The combined anthropology and sociology major (ANSO) includes courses in anthropology and sociology. Students who choose the ANSO major benefit from the related yet distinct foci of the disciplines so as to better understand and participate in a world that is internationally and multiculturally linked. The anthropology curriculum at Drake focuses on cultural anthropology. The average class size is 30, although often less in sociology and anthropology courses beyond the introductory level.
