The Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Criminology at Troy University in Troy, Alabama invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor to begin August 1, 2023 or earlier. We seek an interdisciplinary scholar working in any Cultural or Linguistic Anthropology specialization, whose work critically engages with migration, displacement, globalization, and/or other closely related topics. The department is seeking a colleague whose work complements and augments the research of our current faculty across the department. We are also seeking a candidate who can offer courses that expand and support our existing curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

We seek an anthropologist who is dedicated to excellent teaching in a liberal arts environment and welcomes opportunities to work with, mentor, and advise students with diverse backgrounds, academic interests and learning styles. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester in a normal academic year. Troy University has a long tradition of in-person and online education, so we are seeking an anthropologist who will welcome the opportunity to teach in both formats each year. Strong research credentials and a promising scholarly agenda are also essential, along with service to the department, college, university and discipline.
