The Cultural Sociologist/Anthropologist leverages sociological and analytical expertise to explore standard and non-standard historical sources to examine how events, actors and institutions acquire significance through cultural codes, narrative genres and metanarratives.
Other Duties Include:
- Supports development of integrated approaches to explain the structures and changes in informative phenomena on the cultural plane.
- Performs cultural code analysis of communicator motives, mutual relations, and relevant institutions.
- Performs narrative strategy analysis, including historical analysis of how different narratives about specific events or institutions vary over time, and how different narratives vie for dominance.
- Performs metanarrative analysis, determining extensive narratives constituting reference frames for events, individuals and institutions and supporting the development of understanding of symbolic boundaries and basic reference frameworks.
- Provides advice and products supporting development or refinement of communication execution and assessment strategies.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
- Requires 5+ years of experience in sociology or related fields.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
- Requires a Bachelors' Degree in Sociology, Anthropology, or related fields.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
- Secret clearance required; accepted candidates will be submitted for upgrade.
