The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director plays an important role in the mission of PrairieCare, and supports the development of intercultural competency and culturally responsive practice to foster inclusion throughout the company. This position supports PrairieCare's three focus areas within the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Framework of patient care, organizational dynamics, and community engagement. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director partners with the Executive Sponsor and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Clinical Consultant to effect organizational change and improvement.
Responsibilities:
Provides input and direction to Marketing Department, Joint Commission Accreditation Specialist (Policy Specialist), Service Line Administrators and Human Resources.
Responsible for coordinating DEI education efforts for all clinical and non-clinical staff.
Provides consultation to staff to promote further organizational advancement towards cultural awareness, responsiveness, and inclusive practices.
Facilitates educational sessions internally and externally as guided by PrairieCare's DEI strategic framework.
May facilitate case consultation for staff across PrairieCare to deepen cross-cultural dialogue and intercultural competency.
Contributes to updates in policy, standard operating procedures, and/or manuals to provide culturally responsive lens as requested.
Coordinates with Educational Staff to inform decisions regarding organizational and community-facing education programs, including, but not limited to PES (PrairieCare Educational Series).
Reviews, interprets and contributes to PrairieCare's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategic Framework and manages delegated deliverables.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices. Reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Provides NEO (New Employee Orientation) training and other staff training as assigned.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in speech communication, post-secondary education, sociology, social anthropology, public administration, human resource management or other related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
A minimum of five years of professional work experience in workplace diversity, equity, inclusion and culture is required
Direct work experience successfully handling issues of cultural differences, gender equity, religious tolerance, structural racism, agism, gender identity and expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation and disability is required.
Working knowledge and understanding of all applicable EEO laws.
Must have the ability to manage and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally.
Experience supporting organizational development and implementation of DEI tools and strategies.
Experience developing DEI curriculum
Experience working within healthcare settings including mental health or related field preferred.
Knowledge of EEOC, Affirmative Action and Compliance preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, project management and organizational skills are required
Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to translate metrics, research and trends into strategy.
Experience with using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Teams, and Word
Certified Diversity Professional Certificate Preferred
